Perez Hilton was born March 23, 1978, in Miami, Florida. The son of Cuban immigrants, he graduated with honors from New York University and later received a B.F.A. in drama from The Tisch School of the Arts. Intent on becoming a celebrity himself, Lavandeira packed his bags and headed to LA to try his hand at acting. Unfortunately, the industry proved to be more competitive than he had anticipated, and after landing roles in an episode of The Sopranos and the low-budget horror film Campfire Stories, he turned his attention to journalism instead.
